I grew up in the Sandhills of North Carolina, where I spent my childhood wandering through pine forests along the Cape Fear River, staring at the sun out of the window of my classroom, and watching the grass grow through the cracks in the pavement. These early influences still persist in my work as evidenced in my fascination with nature, the human impact on it, and the way light works with different elements. I continued my education at the North Carolina School of the Arts, where I focused my attention on Scene Design for Theatre, and continued to develop an interest in written and spoken words. After receiving my BFA, I packed all my belongings in a covered wagon (actually a white pickup truck with a camper shell) and headed west to California, where I continued honing my craft through years of figure drawing and various digital explorations, until I became fascinated with plastic and began combining epoxy resin castings with light. My passion for poetry, nature, philosophy and music are main influences in my work. Recently, I developed a strong interest in drawing portraits. Focusing my eye on humanity and drawing out the deeper subconscious levels of my subjects are what drive me in this process. My eclectic muse has led me to explore many different mediums, from ink, watercolor, and pastels, to video, mobiles, converted chainsaws, and epoxy resin.
